PROYECTO AUTOCONSTRUCCIÓN

Butchery

Concrete cast from a silicone mould

25 x 35 x 20 cm

These sculptures are based on the precarious architecture found on the outskirts of Mexico City, where buildings are often built with limited resources, using improvised solutions and sometimes remaining unfinished. Small businesses and working-class trades are also a recurring part of these spaces and of the project.

PROYECTO LUMEN FIDEI

CRANEO.png

This project explores death, superstition and ritual practices in Mexico. The sculptures take references from popular beliefs, witchcraft and objects associated with rituals, transforming them into fictional objects. Some of the materials used in the sculptures were collected from places where these practices take place, mainly empty lots and wasteland. Using these found objects, I construct fictional altars that suggest their own forms of belief and faith.
