I am a Mexican artist based in Mexico City. My practice is mainly focused on figurative painting, but also includes drawing, monotype, collage and recently some sculpture.
I often combine real experiences, memories and imagination to create scenes that are familiar but also strange, ambiguous or slightly surreal. Many of my ideas come from memories, dreams, found photographs, Mexican folklore and daily experiences, as well as the landscapes and architecture of Mexico City and its outskirts.
I am particularly interested in how memories, popular beliefs and ordinary places can be altered and reconstructed through images. I also have a strong interest in traditional painting techniques and materials, which I use alongside contemporary images and subjects.
I have run an art studio in Mexico City since 2016, where I teach painting and other visual arts practices. I currently work with 54 Gallery in Mexico City and Mérida MX.
